My Description

Tears flowing down his  face, as each tear fell with every miserable second passing by.  Icey cold rain froze him as his face was forced into the tree, muddy puddles wrapped around his legs. Wind shouting at him there is no way out, all the gates smash closed as he tried to escape the quicksand of mud, shadows lurking in the distance as a disgusting sound that echoed into his ears, it was like a cat scratching the life out of a black board. Insects crept up his body entering his mouth as he spits with hatred.

Sounds smashed into his ear drums saying disturbing  things, he ran but as he looked there was no end to the trail, screams of horror burnt his ears alive as they came from every corner. Thunder and lightning stormed through the land destroying everything, trees fighting and clashing trying to survive as the boy crawling beneath all the madness, a rusling had occurred from beneath him so he crawled away.

Just in time a huge anaconda of vines exploded out of its lair and it could smell fear all over him.  The school bully. So he turned, stood up and swiftly ran away. As he turned back his head the bully had disappeared, so he stopped and his sweat of fear flooded onto the ground, blood dripped from the cuts of battle.  Finally it was peaceful, the dark clouds vanished along with all of its destructive pests and finally the nightmare called school was over.

Learning to fly

I'm soaring.                                                               Author-Kenn Nesbitt
I'm sailing.
I'm learning to fly.
I'm leaping.
I'm bouncing.
I'm high in the sky.

I'm jumping.
I'm hopping.
I'm up in the air.
I'm dashing.
I'm diving,
the wind in my hair.

I'm swooping.
I'm whooshing.
I'm light as a kite.
I'm flittering,
fluttering,
floating in flight.

I'm toppling.
I'm tumbling.
I'm falling. I crashed.
And, whoopsie,
my parents
new mattress is trashed.

Orongorongo tramp

This task is about interpreting the use of metaphor.

Read the poem 'Orongorongo tramp' then answer the following questions.

a) "Our backs scream for a rest
but the hills give us nothing."

What could the hills give the trampers?
The hills could give them a place to rest.

b) Why could packs be seen as the enemy?
Because they are the ones that are slowing them down and they are so heavy.

c) In what two ways could the roots be a minefield?
  • One can be that you can get lost in a minefield and same as in the bush.
  • Another is that minefields are dangerous and sometimes the roots can be dangerous.

d) What is the HQ?
The HQ is the home or the finish and where they rest.

e) This poem uses an extended metaphor of tramping as war.  Identify three words other than "war", "enemy" and "minefield"that develop this metaphor throughout the poem.

  • Army
  • HQ
  • defence

f) What line has the same structure as "our packs the enemy"?
The trees have claimed another victim.

  1. What is the best word to add to "our packs the enemy" to make this into a complete sentence?
Our packs are the enemy

(A) is
(B) on
(C) are
(D) for

Mark Lowndes

On Wednesday the 13th of February, we were lucky enough to interview Mark Lowndes. He is famous for him appearance in Australia's Got Talent.
Miss Aireen organised our interview, which we did online using google chat.
I learnt that Mark Lowndes went on A.G.T because his sons told him to,he first started singing 12 years ago and his wife is one of our teachers first cousins.
He left us with the message to never give up on our dreams and he sang us a song.

I felt very amused. Below is a photo of Mark and a link to a video/site for more information.

Samoan Language Introduction

Super girl

The super girl
A girl who was born in 2009 was  given amazing powers from her mother because she was a undercover superhero and that day she had passed away, but the little girls father had no idea his wife or his daughter had super powers so he looked after the girl for years without knowledge.  The year now is 2013 and the girl is 4 years old and she can now control her powers and she can jump thousands of feet high and run fast as light itself.  She can also fly and she also has super strength.

The thing is that she is in grave danger because her mother didn't die on accident, she was murdered from a top secret organisation that hunts super powered humans and destroys them.  They thought they had exterminated all of them but there was one more and they had found out.  Now, they were outside her house ready to jump in.

“Now!” They screamed, and hundreds of men ran into the house while they were cleaning and saw the girl.

She lifted the huge chair and threw it at them, “50 down 450 to go!”  She screamed. Then the father screamed because that was the first time he had seen her use her powers.  Suddenly, 100 more men jumped into the house.  She flew into the sky and flew back down.  BOOM!  A huge explosion and 200 of these men were down.

250 men left to go so, she got a huge rope from outside and ran circles around 200 of the men and he threw them.  They landed in China. There was only 50 men left and when they saw what she did they ran for their lives.

They were safe and when her father got use to his daughter having super powers his daughter held him and they both flew in the sky.  They did that every morning from then on.

My individual Description

My name's  Sake and  I live in Panmure,Auckland and my school is T.P.S. the hair on my head is a huge jungle with hair twisting and turning and my teeth are sharp and dangerous caves. My ears are big as elephants so I can hear like a canine. I love my sports and always dreamed to be a pilot gliding swiftly in the sky, I also would love to be any kind rugby player. The most important things to me are god, family, friends, sports and school.

My youngest brother is a little tricky monkey that always gets in trouble,my older brother is a sloth that simply does nothing. Me  and my other brother are always fighting over everything, My mum is a nice lady that always looks after us and usually does work for her children at school,my dad cares a lot about me and my brothers.

Where I live it is usually quiet and peaceful, but we started 2013 with a lot of deaths, but when we got into the year it has got a lot more better. All the people in Panmure are kind and friendly so you know you are safe when you are in the streets and playing at the park, and all the neighbours are friendly, including my neighbors  We always play outside together  and have sleepovers.

Although we are peace full and all that, nearly everyone does sports, Even me and I love rugby the most so in my school we play rugby every single day, but when there is a tournament going on we stop rugby and try out for that sport.

At our school I would love to do more stuff and trips and I would like to do great in school  ,My one fear in school is the end of the year because this is my first school and everyone here is like my family because we look out for each other and most of the year 8s have been here ever since year 1 including me so I will be very sad going away from my friends and teachers at T.P.S but I will never forget this school.

Family Poem

When my family comes to town everyone hides and cries  in fear because my family is full of animals!!

Vai is the gorilla in the family because the three things he does is sleep for days and sometimes weeks, play around and eat tonnes of food every single day .

James is the little monkey that jumps up in trees, buildings and poles, he even eats 1000 bananas for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Sau and me are the lions who fight for hours, and we always try to kill each other at  times.

The two most important people that  keep the zoo steady and running smooth is ......

Mum and Dad, they are the ones who feed Vai and also play with James, they also make sure that me and Sau don’t strangle each other to death.

This is why that are the most important because they keep our family together.
